Crafting American Black Walnut Parquet - BOPMAN Flooring

Why We Work with American Black Walnut: An Atelier Perspective on Wood, Light, and Craft

Walnut can bring depth and warmth to an interior, but a photograph alone is not a product specification. For architects, designers and trade buyers, the useful starting point is a physical sample and a clear record of the timber, layout and finish being considered.

Start with the approved timber sample

Review the grain, colour range and surface appearance under the lighting planned for the project. Agree how natural variation, sapwood, knots and other visible characteristics will be assessed. The timber species, origin and any sourcing documents required for the order should be confirmed in writing.

Do not assume that every walnut product uses the same colour treatment or coating. Confirm the selected colour, texture, finish system and sheen against the approved sample before production. Product photographs and design visualizations are selection aids; the approved sample and written specification define the order.

Develop the construction for the project

Engineered flooring construction must be reviewed for the selected product. Confirm the overall thickness, wear layer, substrate material and construction, dimensions, joint profile and installation method. These details are agreed for the order rather than inferred from a general collection description.

If underfloor heating is planned, share the system type and project conditions. Suitability, installation requirements and operating limits must be reviewed against the approved construction and the relevant system and installation guidance. A general statement about engineered flooring does not establish that every product is suitable for every heating system.

Check the pattern and edge detail

Wide plank, herringbone, chevron and modular parquet create different layouts. Share a floor plan, approximate area, orientation and any border or transition details. Confirm the pattern, module dimensions, bevel and joint arrangement through samples and an agreed layout before manufacture.

Turn the selection into a clear enquiry

  • Samples: Specify the product, colour and finish you want to review. Sample availability, cost and dispatch arrangements are confirmed for the request.
  • Quotation: Provide the approximate area in m² or sq ft, destination, preferred specification and required timing. Minimum order quantity, production schedule and shipping arrangements are confirmed in the quotation and written order.
  • OEM and private label: Share brand identification, packaging and labelling requirements so they can be reviewed with the product specification.
  • Documentation: Identify any certification, emissions, fire, acoustic or other project requirements early. Ask for documents applicable to the selected product and order; availability and scope must be checked before approval.
